Some artists fit astrology because they have range. Siouxsie and the Banshees fit the Rising signs because they have presence. Sharp, theatrical, seductive, strange, sometimes confrontational and always unmistakably styled, their catalog practically demands to be sorted by the part of the chart responsible for how we meet the world.
Siouxsie herself makes an especially good case for starting with the Ascendant. For someone whose image has been photographed, copied, dissected and influential for nearly half a century, she has somehow retained an aura of mystery. Astrologically, that contradiction is pretty interesting: Gemini Sun, Taurus Moon, Sagittarius Rising — with Saturn sitting almost directly on that Sagittarius Ascendant.
That Sagittarius Rising helps explain the provocative, boundary-pushing public presence: irreverent, adventurous, difficult to contain and perfectly willing to wander outside whatever everyone else has decided is acceptable. Add a Gemini Sun and you get the shape-shifting curiosity, experimentation and refusal to remain aesthetically parked in one place.
But then Saturn shows up at the front door.
Saturn conjunct the Ascendant adds gravity, control and a certain amount of armor to all that mutable energy. You can see her. You can know plenty about her. That does not necessarily mean she has invited you inside. Her Taurus Moon and Mercury only reinforce that sense of something much more deliberate and self-contained beneath the experimentation. Even the mystery feels curated.
Which is exactly why Siouxsie and the Banshees work so well for this exercise.
In astrology, the Rising sign is not your deepest emotional core or your private inner life. It is your surface voltage: your aura, instinctive posture, style and the first impression people register before they know the fuller story. It is sometimes called a mask, but not because it is fake. Think of it more as the face your energy naturally wears when it encounters the world.
So this list is not about which sign is secretly the saddest, sweetest or most complicated underneath. It is about vibe. Entrance. Image. Temperature. These songs are meant to capture the flavor of each Rising sign as it presents itself — the energy that walks into the room before the biography does.
And no, this is not an excuse to flatten astrology into eyeliner and aesthetic moodboards. Siouxsie and the Banshees simply understood something essential about style as force.
If the Moon is the feeling and the Sun is the identity, the Rising sign is the spell everyone else encounters first.

Gemini Rising — Peek-a-Boo
Gemini Rising, Peek-a-Boo is your anthem. It captures your wit, your unpredictability, and the sly way you keep people entertained without ever showing quite all your cards. You come off clever, strange, and just unstable enough to be interesting.

Cancer Rising — Christine
Cancer Rising, Christine is your anthem. It captures your softness, your shifting emotional atmosphere, and the way your presence can feel gentle, elusive, and slightly haunted around the edges. People sense there is more going on than you are saying, and they are usually right.
